We develop and manufacture neuroprostheses, neural interfaces and assistive robotics. Our devices are used by people in 41 countries. We are still based where we started in 2000 — in the old works on the edge of Ostrovice.
Technology
Our platform rests on three layers that are developed together: sensing the neural signal, real-time drive control, and the feedback that makes the user perceive the device as part of the body rather than as a tool.
The implantable interface reads motor intent and returns sensory information about load and position. In development since 2016.
The control unit learns the gait of one specific person, not of a generic patient. The model keeps adjusting and the data stays on the device.
Powered joints developed and manufactured in house, in Ostrovice, on a line that has stood in the works since 2012.
Products
A complete replacement after above-knee amputation, with a bidirectional neural interface. The first generation whose users repeatedly manage rough terrain, running and sport.
A robotic arm for home care and for workplaces where the operator has limited handling ability. Our most widely used product.
Load, position and temperature sensors for prosthetics and rehabilitation equipment. We supply them to other manufacturers as well.
A full-body platform used to validate control, balance and sensory feedback across the full range of movement.
About us
An engineering works in Ostrovice. The hall on Průmyslová street, where the company is based to this day.
Two fresh graduates buy a hall, three lathes and a name. The company focuses on industrial automation for German suppliers.
The company turns to medical and assistive robotics. A capital partner enters the ownership structure.
The start of the in-house development line the current products rest on.
A first-series user walked 400 metres unaided. The device enters clinical practice.
Karel Bergman died on 14 March 2033. The company continues normal operations; the general meeting will decide on its further direction.
Management
founder and chairman of the board
Led the company from the takeover in 2000. He pushed through the shift to medical robotics and was the public face of the firm.
co-founder, chief technical officer
Responsible for development and manufacturing. Behind the design of the powered joints and the development of the neural interface.
director of development
Heads the N-HUMAN-OHA platform development team. The first person to test the new generation of the neuroprosthesis on himself.
director of the N-HUMAN Foundation
Has led the foundation since it was set up in 2015. She represents families in dealings with authorities and health insurers.
N-HUMAN Foundation
The foundation was set up in 2015. It helps families of children with disabilities to fund equipment and accompanies them in dealings with authorities and health insurers. Over eighteen years it has supported 611 families.
A contribution towards equipment the insurer does not cover, or covers only in part.
Representing the family before an authority, an insurer or an assessment board.
Meetings of families dealing with the same thing. Four times a year, no programme.
Press
The shareholders have asked the board to assess the company portfolio, including segments in which it does not yet operate. The paper will be put to the general meeting.
The company continues normal operations. No board appointments will be made until the estate proceedings are closed.
The funeral was held on 26 March 2033, among close family and colleagues.
At the age of 56, after a long illness.
We presented the fourth-generation control unit and a new sensor range.
The device may now be supplied without the research-use restriction.
The result of the first long-term test of the platform. The device was tested by a member of the development team.
Careers
We are hiring in Ostrovice. Most people here have been with us for more than ten years, and that is probably the most telling thing we can write about the company.
Partners and suppliers
A medical device is not made in one place. The selection of suppliers, test houses and clinical sites is governed by the same regime as manufacturing itself.
The list covers suppliers and partner sites involved in the manufacture of medical devices. We maintain the full supplier register under ISO 13485 and provide it to the notified body on request.
